I just watched my latest purchase - U2 live in Chicago. This is the first tour I have missed since the Joshua Tree tour in 1987, when the BoDeans opened for them at the St. Paul Civic Center. I'm dating myself now...
Anyway, It opened with City of Blinding Lights. The best u2 song in years. They played a couple of way oldies. Electric Co., An Cat Dubh, and Running to Stand Still. Wow. Great.
Bono preached like usual. Tamed down a bit, but still did it. As I have become more conservative over the years, I like his banter less and less, but for the most part, he means well.
The show ended with 40. Something only true u2 fans know. "How long, How long can I sing this song" Straight out of the Bible. They ended it just like they did at the Red Rocks show years ago. First Bono leaves the stage, then Adam, the Edge, the Larry. Full Circle.

2nd time champ
OK, I waited way too long to do this post... Tony won his second cup championship last Sunday. Pretty boring race until the end. Good to see The Biff and Cousin Carl battling for the win and getting the tie for 2nd place in the standings. What a couple of hard chargers. The 20 team did what they needed to do all day long. Just hang in there and be conservative.
I think all the haters have finally come around and realized that Smoke is the best driver of all time (in any kind of racing). As far as NASCAR, he is only second to the late Dale Earnhardt.
Should be a fun awards ceremony this year. I bet his speach will be great.
Raise your glasses for Tony Stewart and the number 20 team....

TV this week
Thinking back on the shows I watch, this week was pretty good.
PRISON BREAK was once again, awesome. The show has way to many coincidences, but I cannot look away.
HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER. This show rocks. Futer Ted? C'mon that is great. The swordfight was great.
THE OFFICE. This show gets better every week. "Dwight thinks tommorrow is Saturday, that's what I'll be working on this afternoon" - And the Wild Side scene in the stairwell? Priceless.
MY NAME IS EARL. Great redneck humer. "Hey Crabman's Moms", "Hey Earl". "Monster's of Rap?". "Yeah, I got it at the nice price, I also got you moster's of rock"
ER. Big plane crash episode. Good ep, but this show is getting out of hand. A wedding next week? Nela is still hot.
APPRENTICE. I'm glad there are two eps next week, lest get this thing done, so I can quit wasting my time.
REUNION. The twists keep coming. I really like this show. It's mellow, but yet keeps you interested. I love the 80's and 90's tunes and flashbacks. Thet get the styles and tunes wrong sometimes, but they are trying.
Keep watching the tube....

Smoke
Well NASCAR fans, here we are, the last race weekend of the season. Will Tony hold off Johnson and Edwards for his 2nd championship? I don't want to jinx it, but I think he can. He runs well at Homestead. You never know though, anything can happen in a race.
It would be so cool to see Smoke get his second championship. I think this one would be bigger than the first, especially with the "new and improved" Tony Stewart we see this season.
It would be really cool to see him win the race and the Championship. If Tony doesn't win, I sure hope Rusty Wallace can win his last race. That would be something else.

Kurt Busch
So all the NASCAR fans this week witnessed something we havn't seen in a long time. Kurt Busch got fired (or suspended) from the 97 car.
I am not a Kurt Busch fan, and at first thought he was a complete jerk for what he did. As the week went on it turns out he was not drunk and had maybe one beer. But, he still got cocky with the Sheriff's deputies that pulled him over. Not a good place to do that, when you are in the county where the Sheriff makes his inmates where pink underwhere, sleep in tents and eat green bolgna.
Kurt thought he was larger than life and screwed himself. Think about it, if you are not a NASCAR fan, you do not know who he is.
But, it looks like the Sheriff in AZ was doing everything he could to make himself known nationwide.
Also, looks like Jack Roush saw a great opportunity to get back at Kurt for wanting out of his contract. Plus Jack had a bad week with the new rules NASCAR dished out.
To me, I see too things. First, Kurt pushed the envelope too far once again, and hopefully has learned his lesson this time. Second, Jack Roush wanted revenge and by a string of luck, got it.
Whould Kurt have gotten canned if he was still contending for the title? I think not.
Oh well, go Kenny Wallace this week. I was hoping Todd Kleuver would get a shot, but I guess Kenny is a bigger name right now...

Over-rated Drivers
I've been doing alot of thinking about who are the most overrated drivers in NASCAR. I get tired of seeing the same dudes on all the commercials. We all know that Michael Waltrip is a commercial whore. But he's not overrated. The broadcast crews don't talk about him all the time. But there are a few that get way too much TV time.
Dale Jr. is way overrated. He is a mid pack driver at best. I cheered for him when he was in the Busch series and won his 2 championships. He has just gone downhill. The guy is the poster boy of NASCAR and good for him, he's set for life. I just can't help but think that his Daddy is rolling over in his grave. "Dale Jr. you best get that door for me" c'mon. Napa, Wrangler, etc..... Just drive dude and I bet you'd make the chase next year.
Kasey Kahne. What is Ray Evernham thinking? I'd fire him if he has another year like this one. No wonder his crew cheif is looking for a better job.
Ryan Newman. Will someone please tell this guy that races are won on Sundays, not Fridays. Why would you put all your effort into the qualifying setup, rather than the race setup. How many times does he get the pole and get passed in the first few laps of the race.....
These are the drivers I think are way overrated. Let me know what you think. I bet I get crucified.....

PRISON BREAK once again was awesome. One of the best eps this season.
HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER continues to amaze me, what a great show.
THE OFFICE has been so good since they cleaned it up a bit.
MY NAME IS EARL was pretty solid. Earls brother always cracks me up
JOEY was pretty solid too. Better this year than last
REUNION - If your not watching this show, you should. I read a review before it started that said "watch it, but don't tell anyone you do"
ER - Lots of cameos in the past few weeks, but Stamos was great
APPRENTICE - I'm too invested now to quit watching this seasons trainwreck.

Eddie Van Halen
For all you VH fans out there, I found a recent interview with EVH that was pretty funny....

NASCAR this week
It's been a busy week in the NASCAR world. The whole Kurt Busch/Jamie McMurray deal got done. Ricky Rudd retires. But most important to me is that my favorite driver, Bobby Labonte quite Joe Gibbs Racing and signed on with Petty Enterprises. I guess I'll have to become a Petty Racing fan now.... Hummmmmmm.
Bobby says he will bring the 43 back to victory lane, so I hope this comes true and he just isn't going to Petty to end his career. Robbie Loomis should be a big help.
What do all the NASCAR fans think about this and all the other driver changes of the week?
